Alycia and I got a new car yesterday. We weren't planning on getting a new car but, because of some unexpected circumstances, we are the proud owners of a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. I have yet to name it so, if you have any suggestions, please let me know.
I'm really excited to have a brand new car but I wouldn't mind having one of these nerdy cars.
Batmobile
There have been a lot of different versions of the Batmobile. I liked Adam West's version and Christian Bale's was appropriate for Christopher Nolan's more realistic Gotham. My favorite Batmobile, though, is from Tim Burton's original Batman. I really enjoy driving especially when I can drive fast. I've never had an exceptionally fast car but I've made the most of what I've driven. Burton's Batmobile was sleek, aerodynamic and came equipped with a jet engine. I can only imagine the fun I'd have driving that Batmobile, weaving in and out of traffic on Southern California's freeways. And if I ever gave into my road rage, I'd have machine guns and bombs ready to go.
Aston Martin DB5
I'm not much of a car guy. I don't really care about the car I drive as long as its practical, dependable and will get me where I'm going. All of that practicality goes out the window, though, when I look at an Aston Martin. I almost cried while watching Casino Royale when James Bond wrecked his Aston Martin Vanquish. The Vanquish was nice but nothing can beat the style and class of Sean Connery's Aston Martin DB5. Bond's DB5 made its debut in Goldfinger and appeared in a number of other James Bond movies. It is such a beautiful car but I wouldn't keep it locked up; I would drive it all the time, to church and through the Chick-fil-A drive thru. I'd also be able to threaten backseat drivers with the ejector seat or warn passengers that touching the radio might get them a trip through the sunroof.
Fantasticar
I've never really read the Fantastic Four comics so I don't know much about the Fantasticar. I don't think I'd mind having one, though, since Wikipedia told me that it tops out at 550 mph and can fly up to 30,000 feet in the air. I'm not planning on going through a midlife crisis and buying a sports car, something for which Alycia is very grateful. However, if in 15 years there is a flying car that travels at 500 mph, I may have to rethink that position. I can't imagine it would be very affordable but it'd still be worth taking for a test drive.
Even though I can't have one of these nerdy cars, I'm still really happy with our new car. Alycia and I weren't planning on buying a new car but we're grateful that God provides and has given us peace over the purchase.
Maybe if I start praying now God will also provide the funds and peace for a flying, midlife crisis sports car.
What nerdy car would you like to take for a spin?
It's not a car, but it doesn't get much nerdier than this: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=238033069670802&set=a.218073255000117.52065.218072135000229&type=1&theater
Oh my goodness! That is all sorts of ridiculous.
Also in the "not a car" but still personal transport category, I'd like one of those one-person Barsoomian flyers from JOHN CARTER.
As for nerdy cars, though, how could you forget K.I.T.T.? Strobing red light (just like a classic Cylon!), lilting British accent, and that really kick-butt theme song...
I did forget K.I.T.T., I feel ashamed. I'd also never thought that K.I.T.T. was a Cylon before. You are blowing my mind, Mike.
I live to serve 😉
I've got a couple of others: Ecto1 from Ghostbusters and Black Beauty from Green Hornet.
