Earlier this week Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. wrapped up its first season. A lot of people bailed on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. earlier in the season. I admitted that it wasn’t the best show on television, but I was willing to stick with it. I am glad that I did.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. limped through most of its first season, but the final seven episodes were great. Things are going to get really spoilery from here on out. So if you haven’t finished Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or seen Captain America: The Winter Soldier, you might want to stop reading here.
Are you sure you want to keep going?
Spoilers are coming.
WARD IS THE WORST!!!
After he revealed that he was Hydra, Alycia and I would yell at him and hiss every time Ward was on screen. I hate him and I’m kind of sad that Skye didn’t let him die.
After I saw The Winter Soldier, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s uneven first season made a lot more sense. I’m sure the producers knew that S.H.I.E.L.D. was going to be torn apart. Instead of creating a serialized story over the entire first season, the producers were waiting for The Winter Soldier to be released. Once S.H.I.E.L.D. fell apart, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. came together
The characters seemed to find themselves as everything was falling apart and the writers finally had a destination. Instead of wasting time with a new monster of the week, Coulson and company finally found their villain.
Here are some thoughts I had after watching the season finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
- I hope Coulson doesn’t go crazy. If he does, I hope he goes crazy like Lieutenant Barclay in The Next Generation episode “The Nth Degree.”
- I hope Fitz is all right. He and Simmons are my favorite part of the show.
- I wonder what Ward was about to say to May before she broke his larynx.
- I like Skye a lot more than I did earlier in the season. She really became a part of the team and I’m interested to find out more about her past.
- Ian Quinn and Raina took off with the Gravitanium; I imagine they’ll use it to help humanity.
- I couldn’t stop laughing when Coulson disintegrated John Garrett.
- I hate Ward.
- I love Nick Fury.
- Now that How I Met Your Mother is finished, Cobie Smulders should join the cast of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as a series regular.
- Does Patton Oswalt have a Life Decoy Model?
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. finished with a bang and I really am looking forward to season two. Hopefully it’ll pick up right where it left off. I’m also excited that ABC has picked up Agent Carter; we’ll get to see S.H.I.E.L.D. in its present and at its beginning.
How did you feel about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s season finale?
“Once S.H.I.E.L.D. fell apart, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. came together.”
Agreed. I would say from the Lorelei episode on, it was consistently entertaining. Not my favorite show ever, but a good one, and I, too, am glad I stuck with it (we did so mainly because my wife wanted to).
Although it would be nice for Fitz to get better, I am kind of hoping they don’t let him, or at least don’t let him too quickly. Brain damage could be the logical consequence of what happened; and it would make for a very interesting and sustained character arc to see how his and Simmons’ relationship changes in those circumstances.
I was pleased to see Patton Oswalt again. A fun surprise.
I couldn’t agree with you more. I hated ward! And still do! I wonder if they’re going to try to redeem his character but I just don’t see how.
The story really came together and makes me excited to see what they do in the next season
I’ver said it elsewhere, but I loved how Coulson got in the last word over Garrett’s attempted monologue. Especially how it was as if he never heard him. Note-perfect.
