#898 – Chris Pratt is Awesome

I’ve been writing about Guardians of the Galaxy for well over a year. I have been looking forward to the Guardians’ first big screen adventure for a long time. I’ve paid attention to every small detail from the hiring of James Gunn to write and direct the movie to the casting of each role. Needless to say I am excited that Guardians of the Galaxy is finally coming out this week.

I’m also excited for Chris Pratt’s rising star. I’ve loved Pratt for years as Andy Dwyer on Parks and Recreation. Andy could have been a simple buffoon whose only purpose was to make Ann Perkins more likeable. Pratt, though, transformed Andy into one of television’s most loveable and hilarious characters.

With The Lego Movie, Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic Park set to make Pratt a star, it’s heartwarming to see how grateful he is for his success and his fans.

A wonderful story at The Mary Sue highlights Pratt’s generosity and willingness to connect with his fans. Guardians of the Galaxy was screened for a children’s charity, a screening for which Pratt was present. After the movie Pratt did a Q&A with the kids and didn’t leave until taking an individual selfie with each of the 250 children at the screening.

    That’s just awesome.

I don’t know if Chris Pratt loves Jesus. At times his Twitter feed has suggested some sort of spiritual life. Even if Pratt doesn’t love Jesus, though, his heart for kids definitely reflects Jesus’s.

In Mark 10 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Instead of stopping in quickly to say hello and wave for the cameras, Pratt encouraged each child individually. That definitely reflects Jesus’s heart for children, not hindering them and encouraging them in their lives.

I love the fact that Jesus’s heart can be reflected almost anywhere. God’s truth is undeniable and we have the freedom to point it out and celebrate it wherever we see it.

We can celebrate God’s beauty in a sunset.

We can celebrate the Spirit’s presence in the silence.

And we can celebrate Jesus’s heart for children in the actions of Star-Lord.

In what unexpected places have you seen the heart of Jesus?

Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel, Movies

Love this! At times we are so quick to dismiss people who we think aren’t believers but we can see the heart of God in anything and anyone! Thanks for sharing!
