I finally got an Xbox One!!!
Ever since it was first announced I have really wanted an Xbox One. I’ve always enjoyed video games. I had a Sega Genesis when I was 13 and have been playing video games ever since. I own at least 10 video game systems, including an original Nintendo and a TurboGrafx-16.
Unfortunately I accrued a number of those video game systems via bad financial decisions. When I was younger, instead of saving up to by my Xbox 360 or my Playstation 3, I simply used my credit card. I couldn’t wait to have the newest and the best so I spent money I didn’t have. There’s a good chance I’m still paying off some of those systems and video games.
That’s why I’m so excited for my Xbox One. I didn’t use my credit card and I didn’t spend money I didn’t have. I got a lot of Amazon gift cards for my birthday and have been saving up money for the past few months. I even sold a bunch of Magic cards to help pay for my Xbox One.
It was a great feeling yesterday when I took it out of the box knowing that it was mine free and clear. American Express doesn’t own any part of my new Xbox. It is all mine, which means that I am completely free to enjoy it.
Since I’m preaching this weekend I might not get to fully enjoy it for a few days. But even if I don’t get to play it very much, at least I won’t be in debt not playing it that much.
Do you have an Xbox One or a PS4? How do you like it?
I was in the same boat myself. My Xbox 360 was charged and I regret that to this day. But since taking the Financial Peace courses, “credit card” is no longer in my vocabulary. That’s is a waste of plastic if you ask me. Anyways, I’m going the independent route on video game systems and plan on investing in a Nintendo Wii U. I miss all the Mario and Zelda games. I do enjoy Halo and Gears of War series but I rather go back to the games that made me the happiest which are those good ol’ Nintendo games. I even miss my N64. I’ll most likely sell my Xbox 360 and games to start the savings fund for the Wii U. Good post!
Thanks! For some reason I can’t part with old systems and games. But it is nice to know that any future games or systems won’t haunt me until the next generation of consoles.
