It really is a golden age to be a nerd. Every day brings with it news, a new trailer or a big reveal about some nerdclination or another. Having news about Episodes VII-IX is way better Star Wars news than wondering whether or not Attack of the Clones would get a 3D release.
Last week we had some big news about Star Wars, and yesterday we got two new videos for upcoming Marvel projects.
Daredevil

The above motion poster for Daredevil found its way to YouTube yesterday. I’m getting really excited for Daredevil, in no small part because I’ve thoroughly enjoyed another recent Netflix series The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Daredevil looks a lot grittier than the sunny Kimmy Schmidt, but still really great. I love how the video above shows Avengers Tower in the background, tying Daredevil to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I also nerded out a little at Matt Murdock’s reflection, which seems to have a red costume instead of the black one from earlier trailers. Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays Kingpin, said that Daredevil is more like a 13-hour movie than a television series, which has only piqued my interest more.
Avengers: Age of Ultron

Age of Ultron is so close; May 1 will be here before we know it. Marvel released the above commercial yesterday, which is full of new footage. I like the roll call format of the commercial, highlighting each Avenger, lest we forget who will be teaming up against Ultron. For me, Captain America flipping his motorcycle and Thor hitting Cap’s shield were the highlights of the commercial. I was a little bummed that we didn’t get a closer look at Vision, but we’ll get to see that robot in action soon enough. I wonder if there will be hints of Vision and Scarlet Witch’s relationship. If people got mad about Kirk sleeping with some aliens in Star Trek Into Darkness, then they’re going to freak out when a robot and a witch get married.
I still can’t believe we live in world where an Avengers movie might end up being the biggest movie of all time. I was happy just to think about an X-Men movie in 1993, much less see that franchise and so many others come to life.
What did you think of Marvel’s news?
