I’m very excited to welcome you to the new Christian Nerd! We’ve got a new design that will improve the experience for those of you accessing the site from a mobile platform. The new design will also provide more flexibility for me as The Christian Nerd marches into the future.
The redesign is a work in progress, work that was hampered when my computer died last week. So please bear with me as we experience some growing pains on the new site. If you have any issues with the new site, please let me know.
Along with the redesign I’m also ecstatic to announce The Christian Nerd Podcast. I have been writing at The Christian Nerd for over four years and I thought it was about time to start talking about my favorite nerdclinations. The Christian Nerd Podcast will be the same mix of Christianity and nerd culture that you’ve come to expect from the site. My co-host for the podcast is my good friend, Ron Offringa; he is an upstanding Christian and nerd in his own right and I’m excited for you to hear more from him. You can follow Ron on Twitter here.
From here on out, my Monday post will be the newest episode of the podcast. So you can come back every week or just subscribe on iTunes or through whatever podcasting app you use.
This week on the premiere episode of The Christian Nerd Podcast, Ron and I share our thoughts about Avengers: Age of Ultron. We saw it together and couldn’t wait to have a spoiler-free conversation about the movie. We also chat about Christian music and why we’d rather listen to pop music. And we finish by sharing some of our earliest memories about reading comic books. It’s a great inaugural episode and I hope you’ll check it out.
Thanks so much for being a part of the journey so far on The Christian Nerd. Connecting with readers has been my favorite part of the experience and I’m now looking forward to connecting with listeners as well.

I’m really glad to know about your podcast. What do you think of the avengers movie? I haven’t seen it yet
I loved “Age of Ultron.” If you’ve liked all of Marvel’s other movies then I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with “Age of Ultron.”
A podcast! Exciting! I enjoyed your first episode.
I didn’t find the amount of sexual material inappropriate – maybe I missed some of it that you two caught. I mean, there were issues around Natasha and Bruce’s relationship; there were some jokes in the “lift the hammer” scene… I dunno, I didn’t find it problematic (or embarassing to have our 13-year-old son watching alongside us).
I also thought the farmhouse scenes slowed this film down more than the Helicarrier scenes did in the first. Mileage varies all around, I guess!
Thanks, Scott, for your transparency in sharing your “ministry monster” experience with us. I can relate!
Looking forward to many more episodes! (Can you add an easy download option, though? Streaming is sometimes an issue.)
I think Ron and I were just both taken aback by the amount of sexual innuendo, especially compared to the first Avengers.
I can look into an easy download button. At this point, though, we’re pushing people to download through iTunes. What do you use to listen to podcasts?
