Earlier this week I wrote about how the impending birth of my daughter might alter my plans for seeing Captain America: Civil War on opening weekend. I was getting more comfortable with the idea of missing the movie, but then Marvel released the trailer below.
That trailer is awesome. Below are some screencaps and some thoughts.
- I guess we’re going to get some of Bucky’s backstory. Getting tortured and brainwashed seems like a bad deal. I hope it never happens to me. Though, a sweet robot arm would be awesome.
- General Ross is on a pretty high horse for someone who released Abomination on Harlem.
- T’Challa looks like he’s got some skin in this fight. Almost dying in some sort of terrorist attack would probably make the prince of Wakanda want to kick some butts and take some names.
- I wonder which Bond villain makes and appearance in Civil War.
- Black Panther is fast. Also, I now really want to see Black Panther.
- I really thought that I would be on #TeamCap, but he sort of loses the moral high ground when his best friend tries to shoot Tony in the face.
- Killing Rhodey would also cause Cap to lose some moral high ground. The trailer does a good job of making it look like Bucky shoots War Machine, but that could be editing wizardry. Also, we don’t really know if Rhodey dies.
- Tony looks pissed. Robert Downey Jr. is so perfect as Tony Stark.
- “That’s what you get for not taking out the garbage.”
- I feel like Ant-Man and Hawkeye would make a great team. They both seem a little outmatched; maybe together they could stand up to the likes of Iron Man or Vision.
- Hey! A bad guy! #TeamCrossbones
- I really do love me some Captain America. #TeamDreamy
- I still can’t believe we live in a world where there have been 12 Marvel movies and in 13 we get a scene like this. It’s a good time to be a nerd.
- He has web shooters!!!
- I’m not really a huge fan of Spider-Man so I won’t be nearly as critical as others about his appearance and mere presence in this movie. I’m happy that Spider-Man is in the MCU. While it would have been awesome to see Miles Morales, I think that Marvel will bring us the best version of Peter Parker ever.
Whenever I see it, I will be super excited for Captain America: Civil War. Even if I can’t see it opening weekend, I’ll have a beautiful daughter to keep me from seeing spoilers on the Internet.
What did you think of the trailer?
Trailer looks really awesome! I should probably finally get around to watching Age of Ultron before this comes out.
