Christian music has gotten significantly better over the years. Even though I’d rather listen to someone like David Crowder, Michael W. Smith still has a place in my heart. Live the Life was one of my favorite albums of the 90s and I live my life by the truths unveiled in the song “Friends are Friends Forever.”
One of Michael W. Smith’s biggest hits is the song “Pray For Me.” While it seems to describe a break-up or the fallout between Paul and Barnabas, I really just want to focus on the title.
Next week I’ll be heading to Illinois to speak at my first summer camp. Pretty much a year ago I made the decision to leave my job as a youth pastor because I wanted to pursue opportunities to speak and write. Almost as soon as I announced I was leaving CBC, an old friend and colleague asked me to speak at his junior high summer camp. July 2016 seemed so far away when I said yes, but now here we are.
So I really would ask you to pray for me, if you’re the praying type. The Christian Nerd is very much an extension of my real life. If you read my blog and listen to our podcast, then you pretty much know everything that’s going on in my life. So to further that transparency, I’m letting you know that I need your prayers.
I need your prayers because this something I’ve never done.
I need your prayers because I want God to be glorified through my words.
I need your prayers because I can’t change the life of a student, only the Holy Spirit can do that.
I need your prayers because I’m already heartbroken at the thought of leaving Alycia and Clara for a week.
I need your prayers because Illinois is hot and humid and I don’t want to melt.
I just need your prayers.
So if you’d be willing to pray for me next week I would appreciate it. I’ve got a few guest posts lined up for next week, but I’ll still be checking in. Thanks for supporting The Christian Nerd and, by proxy, me.
I will be praying Scott!!!
Thanks, Blake!
