I haven’t seen any new movies this year. I really wanted to see The Lego Batman Movie but never got around to it. I did finally watch Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which will have to suffice for now. Check out some of the nerdy movies coming out this spring.
Logan – March 03, 2017
Alycia’s birthday is on March 03. So, since I’m a good husband, I told her that I would go see Logan on March 02 as not to interfere with her birthday. Hugh Jackman has been playing Wolverine since 2000, which seems like forever ago. Wolverine is one of my favorite comic book characters and Jackman has really captured his essence. I really enjoyed The Wolverine and, so far, Logan looks tremendously interesting. If this is Jackman’s last time donning the adamantium claws, I hope Logan sends him out on a high note.
Kong: Skull Island – March 10, 2017
I’ve never seen any iteration of King Kong. I think Peter Jackson’s King Kong came with my Xbox 360 HD-DVD player, but I’ve never watched it. The movie does star some actors that I like, including Tom Hiddleston and Samuel L. Jackson. This could also be the first time I see Brie Larson in a movie and she will be playing one of my favorite super heroes: Captain Marvel. I don’t know if I’ll make it to the theater for Kong: Skull Island; maybe I just don’t like giant gorillas.
Power Rangers – March 24, 2017
I am far too excited for this movie. I loved Power Rangers when it first premiered, even though no one admitted to watching it even though we all did. This movie looks like all of the dark, gritty reboots that I’ve hated in the past, but I am so on board. I never got to fully express my passion for the Power Rangers when I was in junior high so I’ve been making up for it by telling everyone how excited I am for this movie.
Ghost in the Shell – March 31, 2017
I haven’t watched a lot of anime in my life, almost none actually. This movie looks really weird and a little creepy. I don’t know if I’ll see it in the theater, but maybe I’ll get ready for it by watching the series on Hulu. I’m already seeing Logan in March and I really want to see Power Rangers; Ghost in the Shell might have to wait.
That’s it. There’s really nothing nerdy coming out in April. I’m not a big of The Fast and The Furious movies so I can’t imagine I’ll make it to the theaters to see all of those street racers turned super spies. April will provide a nice respite before May hits and all of big summer blockbusters.
What nerdy movies are you looking forward to this spring?
