#300 – 300

When I first began this blog I wasn’t sure if I would ever reach 300 posts. I had blogged before but never with a great amount of consistency. Over the past 14 months I have learned a lot about blogging and have enjoyed interacting with so many of you. Whether this is the first post you’ve read or the 300^th, thank you so much for taking time to visit The Christian Nerd and participate in our little community of nerds who love Jesus.

I’ve appreciated the experience of writing this blog for a few different reasons.

First, it forces me to write something almost every day. Blogging has become a regular rhythm in my life, just like eating and going to church. Nothing I write compares to Shakespeare, Lewis or Rowling, but the discipline is there. A few weeks ago I tweeted: “My rule for blogging: make up for a lack of writing skill with incredible consistency.” The majority of these 300 posts have been average at best but for me it was enough of a challenge just to write and post them.

Secondly, this blog has given me space to think through various topics and issues related to Christianity and nerdom. My own faith has been strengthened, not because I’ve spun theological gold, but because writing has led me through a process of thinking more intentionally about my faith. And, as a reader, if your faith has been strengthened by anything you’ve read here, glory to God. However, I’d encourage you to capture your own thoughts, whether on a blog or in a journal. The intentional process of thinking through and writing about faith can be life changing.

But mostly I’ve enjoyed interacting with the little community we’ve created here at The Christian Nerd. Your comments and insights have pushed me to examine my own perspectives and challenged me as a writer and pastor. It’s been so much fun to get to know some of you through the comments, Twitter and Facebook. It really is a remarkable world where individuals from all over the world can form a bond because the thought of Jesus holding a lightsaber makes us laugh.

So thank you so much for visiting The Christian Nerd. It’s my hope and intention to continue sharing my nerdy Christian thoughts and I hope you continue to respond with your thoughts and insights as well.
