Camp can be a little rough.
Camp has been good so far. Our students made me proud by dressing up for Star Wars Night and they got even nerdier last night for Pokemon Night.
Camp is good but it’s still rough. The roughness really comes from the lack of sleep at camp. We’re up early, we go all day and then we go to bed late. I’ve obviously been doing some blogging at camp, which makes my nights even later.
Because our God is good and gracious, though, we got to sleep in this morning. It’s America’s birthday and, to celebrate, we got an extra hour of sleep. Going to bed and knowing you have to get up early is one of the worst feelings in the world. However, going to bed and knowing you can get up late is one of the best feelings in the world.
I had that feeling last night.
Sleep and rest are vital parts of a healthy life and a healthy life with God. I wrote that I was worried I would allow this busy season to keep me from God. I feel like I’ve managed to stay well connected with God and I’ve been relying on his provision. God’s provision doesn’t always have to be supernatural, though; it can just be an extra hour of sleep.
Hopefully God will provide some ways for you to rest and relax on this holiday, supernatural or otherwise. If you’re in the United States, the 4th of July is a great time so spend with friends and family while eating hot dogs.
I’m excited to spend my 4th of July at camp and I’m even more excited that it began with an extra hour of sleep.
How has God provided rest for you in busy seasons?
