Since it’s Halloween I thought about writing a post about how much I hate Halloween. I’ve already done that before, though. Instead I thought we’d take a look at the teaser trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past. If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, you can watch it below.

I woke up Tuesday morning very excited to watch that trailer. As I’ve mentioned before, the X-Men are my favorite comic book heroes. I have been reading the X-Men comics off and on for over 20 years. Uncanny X-Men 275 is my favorite comic book ever, followed closely by Chris Claremont’s X-Men #1.
I’ve loved most of the X-Men movies. X-Men 3 wasn’t that good but, upon a recent viewing, I decided it wasn’t as bad as I had remembered. Thankfully I never saw X-Men Origins: Wolverine but, for the most part, I enjoyed The Wolverine. I liked X-Men: First Class but was a little wary of X-Men: Days of Future Past.
I was a little worried that Matthew Vaughn left the production so early, even if it meant that Bryan Singer would sit in the director’s chair again. I was excited by the idea of using the “Days of Future Past” storyline, but worried about some of the changes they were making. I’m intrigued to see the older and younger versions of the characters in the movie, but apprehensive about there being too many mutants.
While not eliminating all of my fears, this trailer has helped to ease them.
I’m glad the trailer didn’t focus on action but on Wolverine’s mission to go back in time and prevent the war between humans and mutants. I like the glimpses of Bishop and Warpath but, again, I wonder how Singer is going to fit all of those mutants in the movie without it feeling unsatisfying like X-Men 3.
Overall the trailer got me more excited for Days of Future Past. I like the tone of the trailer and I hope it carries over to the movies. If Fox won’t completely reboot the X-Men movie franchise and start over with the five original X-Men, at least they seem more committed to making quality movies that are true to the source material.
To be sure, though, we’ll just have to wait until May 23.
What did you think about the trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past?
I’ve finally turned the corner this year and have sworn off trailers, except for those I see my occasional trips to the actual theater, but i have been hearing lots of positive buzz about this movie. Glad to know it got you excited for the film, too… I am optimistic, given the people involved, the film’ll be a good one!
