Scott and Ron are back for a very special episode of The Christian Nerd. Just like you’ll never forget how excited Jessie was about caffeine pills, you’ll never forget this missions-themed episode. Scott and Ron begin with a little “Q&A” then transition into “Countdowns” about their favorite aliens and missions. In “From The Blog” they look at different attitudes towards mission trips. They finish by looking at some of their favorite mission trip memories in “Another Walk Down Memory Lane.”

Really enjoying the podcast so far! Loved the comparison of our mission on mission trips to the “prime directive” and the pros and cons of that. Some of my favorite mission trip memories are all the times my students and I would work on construction projects that we would end up having to tear down a day later because we did it wrong! Ah, the brilliance of letting teenagers put down the foundation of a house. Of course, my skills and leadership weren’t the strongest in this area either – I remember putting up an entire wall of cinderblocks and cement myself that had to be completely broken down the next day because it was uneven. Good times. I think one of the biggest things we have to remember, and you sort alluded to it on the show, is that these mission trips are just as much if not more for the students than for the people they are serving. It’s an increasingly rare opportunity for them to get away from the distractions of home and refocus on God and on what truly matters in life. Keep up the good work!
Thanks, Alex! Yeah, I definitely try to stay away from as much construction as possible. I hate wasting time and resources by doing something wrong. It’s really hard to screw up a game of Steal the Bacon in Spanish.
