Star Wars: Battlefront comes out a week from today and, if I can lose more weight than my podcast cohost Ron, then I will be playing it. My ultra competitive nature makes me want to beat Ron, but so does the reward. If I don’t win this competition then I’m not getting Battlefront. And the more commercials I’ve seen for Battlefront, the more excited I am to join the Rebellion or crush it as the Empire.
The commercial below, though, left me with some questions.
Why is everyone getting raptured?
Shouldn’t “I Wish We’d All Been Ready” be playing instead of John Williams’ score?
Is Anna Kendrick actually a Star Wars fan or just an attractive celebrity endorser?
I don’t believe that we’re going to be transported off of this planet. Instead I believe that Jesus is going to return and bring with him the new heaven and the new earth. However, I could be wrong and we could all get sucked away leaving behind piles of jeans and sweatshirts. If that happens next Tuesday here are some Star Wars things I’m going to miss.
Star Wars: Battlefront
I loved the Battlefront games. I can’t believe it’s been over a decade since the first game was released. I remember sitting at home, Xbox controller in hand, sabotaging the Empire or eradicating the Rebellion. If I end up beating Ron and getting Battlefront, I’d be a little sad if I got raptured before playing it. Sure, being with Jesus is going to be awesome, but so is taking down AT-ATs and blowing X-wings out of the sky.
Star Wars Comics
I’ve bought every issue of all the new Star Wars comics. Unfortunately I’m behind on reading them all. I finished off Princess Leia, which was great but I haven’t even started Lando or Chewbacca. Based upon how my weeks have been going I don’t think I’m going to finish all of those books in a week. If I got taken up to heaven like Elijah, then I wouldn’t ever know how Leia escaped Han Solo’s wife or how Darth Vader responded when he learned the identity of the young Rebel pilot who destroyed the Death Star. To be honest, though, Jesus could return in 2,000 years and I’d still probably be behind on comics.
The Force Awakens
Obviously I’d be the most upset about missing out on The Force Awakens. I’d thought about not watching any more trailers after the first one, but that plan pretty much went out the airlock. I’ve watched all of the trailers and even the most recent TV spot. Everything looks great so far and I can’t wait to sit in the theater on December 17 and be transported back to that galaxy far, far away. I’m still spoiler-free and hope that I can make it another 38 days. If Jesus comes back in 37 days, though, then I guess avoiding all those spoilers will have been for nothing.
Star Wars is great and I’m not even close to being tired of it all. I’m all for all of the different products, games, toys, advertisements, cross-promotions and everything else. Granted, all of that would fade to nothing in Jesus’ presence, but if he could hold off on returning until about 10:00pm on December 17 I would appreciate it.
